From CREDAI Conclave 2011 to Conclave 2013

CREDAI- the apex body of the real estate developers of India has been a catalyst in the growth of the industry since 1999. Years of hard work and innovation has fueled the organization to understand the concerns of real estate developers in India in order to achieve the goal of the organisation. CREDAI has been a stimulus in organizing and hosting events where all the stakeholders from the  industry that is government representatives, policy makers, investors, finance companies  and real estate professionals can gather and  discuss the issues concerned thus influencing each other to work towards mutual growth.
The last year’s CREDAI Conclave-2011 was hosted by the Confederation the apex body representing private Real Estate developers in the country. Eminent speakers and young face of India around the globe attended the first of its kind mega conclave of the Real Estate sector in India.

Widely recognized as the most anticipated gathering of the real estate sector of the country, the CREDAI Conclave-2011 was organized on the theme of ‘Mission Transparency-Reassess, Realign, and Reform’. The Conclave’s main focus was to influence the formulation of a stronger growth platform for this industry, while overcoming its obstacles and providing the necessary stimulus for realigning its growth.

Through the Conclave, CREDAI addressed the most pressing roadblock in the development of real estate sector of the country- Corruption, and with aim to create better transparency in the sector which will thus enable a faster growth of the sector.

CREDAI observed that over the years the real estate industry has been despoiled in the news, more for its unclean affairs than being projected in the light of prolific businesses and contribution towards nation building. Most in the business have been the victims and facing the brunt because of the few beneficiaries out there who spoil the game. CREDAI has always focused to end the draconian arrangement and pave a way for better transparency in order to make the real estate sector a bigger factor in the growth of the country.
Revolving around the theme of ‘Mission Transparency-Reassess, Realign, Reform’, the Conclave tried to engage the Generation Next where on the first day the young Indian developers spelt their ambition, ideas, requirements and expectations for the new skyline of Indian real estate. CREDAI also introduced “Youth Wing” where youth icons of the county discussed about the role that the youth is expected to play is the progress of the country.

The two day session at CREDAI Conclave 2011 over the period of two days had brainstorming sessions on understating the role of Central, State and Municipal Government as promoters of transparency; empowering financial institutions for smoother and sustainable fund flows; the need of an effective regulator and the voice of a consumer; state-wise real state growth patterns and feedback from CREDAI working committees across states to achieve this common goal of the developer panel.

This year CREDAI has come up with a new understanding, research and action and the conclave is organized on the theme Housing: The Game Changer; Leading to double digit growth”. CREDAI understands India will have nearly 900 million urban population by 2020 which would require to be employed and housed. Real Estate has the potential to create the right economic environment for such a population expansion. As of today the sector is the second largest employer after agriculture and its multiplier effect on other industries is also evident. Thus the potential of the real estate sector to create a positive and widespread impact on the growth of the Indian economy should be recognized and encouraged at all levels. In CREDAI Conclave 2013, we aim to seek to understand how the potential of the housing sector can be maximized to ensure it contributes, to its best capabilities, towards the country's economic growth. It will also take a look at a few examples from across the world where housing has performed to a much greater potential.

CREDAI has truly been a catalyst in working for real estate industry all over the country. Its conclaves and conferences have always resulted with some happy news for real estate industry or allied people. Recently CREDAI Bengal together with KMC solved issues faced by localities. I have been a part of their conferences regularly in Bengal and they have been very effective in bridging the gap between builders like me and government.
